Petalpalooza Brings Springtime Festivities to Capitol Riverfront Saturday

Celebrate the spring season with a full day of festivities at Petalpalooza. Live music, entertainment, family-friendly activities, food and fireworks will highlight this year’s event schedule to take place along the Capitol Riverfront on Saturday, April 4, from 1 to 9 p.m.

A Day of Spring Celebrations

The event will feature five unique activity and entertainment zones. Each location will feature a variety of different activities and events including origami art, face painting, slime making, workout classes, corn hole challenges, costume karaoke, DIY flower bouquets, lantern making, paddle board painting and more.

Local DJs and music groups will perform on multiple outdoor stages in a variety of genres including: southern rock, Latin jazz, party music, Go-Go, rock and more. Several break dancing performances will also take place throughout the afternoon.

The event will conclude with a fireworks show set to music over the water at 8:45 p.m.

Transportation, Traffic Closures and Parking Restrictions

The festival recommends utilizing public transportation to get to and from the festival as parking will be limited. The closest WMATA Metro stop is the Navy Yard Ballpark station.

The following streets will be posted as emergency no parking and will be closed to all vehicle traffic on Saturday, April 6, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m:

  • 3rd Street from Tingey Street to Water Street SE;
  • 4th Street from Tingey Street to Water Street SE;
  • 4th Street from M Street to Tingey Street SE (southbound lanes only);
  • Water Street from 3rd Street to Tingey Street SE.
