Beyond the Stars Back-to-School Festival

Join Building Bridges Across the River for a back-to-school celebration at Beyond the Stars!

This popular annual festival will feature a full afternoon of family-friendly activities, live music, food and drinks, games, a small business market and more. Free backpacks and school supplies will be available while supplies last, and kids can also enjoy free haircuts, hair braiding and shoe giveaways. Families are also invited to explore community resources to help students kick off the school year successfully during the event.

The event will take place on Sunday, Aug. 23, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Town Hall Education Arts & Recreation Campus (1901 Mississippi Ave SE).

This year’s theme, Beyond the Stars, aims to inspire young people to dream big, explore boldly and discover what’s possible.

“Beyond the Stars represents what our organization is all about—bringing people together, investing in families and creating pathways to opportunity,” President and CEO of Building Bridges Across the River, Scott Kratz, said. “While families come for a fun afternoon and valuable back-to-school resources, they also experience the many ways our organization works alongside residents and partners throughout the year to build stronger, healthier and more connected communities.”

The event is free and open to the public. Register to attend here. Visit buildingbridgesdc.org to learn more.
