DDOT Now Accepting Park(ing) Day Applications

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is hosting PARK(ing) Day 2026 on Friday, Sept. 18. Residents, businesses and community organizations may temporarily convert on-street parking spaces into pop-up parks. Running from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., PARK(ing) Day is an annual event that encourages residents to reimagine the possibilities of public space. Participants are required to sign a release form and provide a certificate of insurance, along with the concept and site design of the proposed activity. Applications must be submitted by Friday, Aug. 21 at www.tops.ddot.dc.gov/DDOTPERMITSYSTEM/DDOTPERMITonline/landing.aspx.
