DC Central Kitchen Celebrates 180th Graduating Class

DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) celebrated the graduation of its 180th Culinary Job Training Program class on Friday, June 26, marking a significant milestone for the nonprofit’s workforce development initiative, which has helped thousands of adults launch careers in the culinary industry over the past three decades.
The event honored graduates through the presentation of a ceremonial resolution from the DC Council and a special photograph featuring the graduates, current students and nearly 100 alumni.
This year’s graduation also marked the 2,500th student to graduate the “knife skills and life skills” curriculum.
Following its launch more than three decades ago, the program has evolved into a 14 week curriculum focused on helping unemployed adults earn food safety certifications and launch careers in the culinary space. The program is provided at no cost to each of its students, and all participants receive stipends, uniforms, certification exams and support services.
