Visit the Ozarks without ever leaving home through food, film and workshops on the National Mall. Beginning this week, performers, cultural experts and culinary specialists will feature a variety of activities to explore parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Illinois.

Since 1967 the Smithsonian Folklife Festival has honored a plethora of different cultural traditions. This educational, research-based event features a variety of activities, performances and workshops for all ages to engage in this unique cultural exchange.

Hundreds of programs including narrative story telling sessions, dance workshops and performances, cooking demonstrations and more are scheduled throughout the festival.

The festival will take place from June 29 through July 4 and July 6 through 9. The festival is free, and no advanced registration is required to participate. Visit festival.si.edu to view the daily schedules and for more information.
