If you’re getting creative in the kitchen or just looking to eat more veggies, get your farm fresh organic produce for free this summer at the weekly veggie giveaways.
Weather permitting, now through Nov. 30, the District Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will host weekly veggie giveaways for residents across the city. Kale, tomatoes, peppers, squash, herbs and more will be available for pick up during designated windows each week.
The program asks that you bring your own bag or container to carry your veggies.
The free produce will be available at three locations across the District every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Edgewood Rooftop Farm (301 Franklin St. NE), Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lederer Garden (4801 Nannie H. Burroughs Ave NE) and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Powell Communal Farm (3149 16th St. NW).
You can learn more about the program, sign up to volunteer and stay up to date on giveaways at dprveggies.splashthat.com or by emailing joshua.singer@dc.gov.
