Residents along Brookland’s 10th St. NE were crowned the “best blossom block” in this year’s Petal Porches competition. The block’s theme “Statehood” featured the state birds of all 50 states hidden within the cherry blossom inspired decor.

The competition, sponsored by Amazon, will award the winning residents with a block party from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday, March 26, complete with music, food and giveaways.

Many residents and residential streets across the District are participating in this year’s competition. Still to be awarded are the “Prime Petal Porches”, to the best decorated porch in each ward, Maryland and Virginia, and “The People’s Petal Porch” which will be selected bracket-style on the festival’s Instagram page @cherryblossfest.

You can find decorated porches near you through the 2023 Petal Porch map. The National Cherry Blossom Festival encourages residents to share their porch photos using #PetalPorches. Residents can still register their porch, get design ideas and share photos here.
