On Sept. 19, 7 p.m., awarding-winning poet Joy Harjo gives her inaugural reading as the 23rd Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry at the Library of Congress, Thomas Jefferson Building Coolidge Auditorium, 10 First St. SE. A member of the Muscogee Creek Nation, Harjo is the first Native American to serve as US Poet Laureate. A book signing follows. loc.gov.
